Dragon Scales - Tutorial B

1. Draw out basic lines for where you would like the scales to go. I usually try to follow the creature's outline, keeping aware of muscles and wings, etc.

2. Begin outlining the basic scales. I tend to keep large plates on the top and bottom of the neck and back, to protect the dragons spine and soft neck.

3. Add V's to the smaller scales, and begin shading the "top" parts of the plates. *Keep in mind with where you want the light to be coming from.

4. Shade in the V's in the middle of the smaller scales.

5. Add final shading to the upper (or lower) scales, and create small circles in any open spaces along the creatures body. Sometimes, the more detail you add, the better the end result.

6. Final product.
